Scania has upgraded their assembly
capacity from 95 to 150 trucks per day
In this masterplan an enormous challenge was fulfilled through creating
two new assembly lines while normal production continued. Ergo-Design
employees have contributed to this process from 2000 until 2003. All together
about a third of the production area was filled in under Ergo-Design supervision.
Systematic Layout Planning was performed resulting in a Block-layout for
the whole production area. Subsequently the following blocks were filled
in by Ergo-Design: - Axle completion line - Wheel supply line - Frame
assembly line - Several major sub assembly stations
Here the result of the Wheel Supply Line, delivering Wheels
to the mounting stations is presented. Two complex hanging 'power and
free' conveyor systems with 'fly over' were realized. In production order
wheels are supplied and automatically fed into the conveyor systems. Finally
the 200.000 wheels per year are distributed by the conveyor system towards
the right and left mounting stations on both lines. Ergo-Design has performed
project management for the implementation until final take over by the
Scania production organisation.
