Scania production Meppel - "Prisma"
Scania CV AB has started in 2004 the project "Prisma" in order to
realize a new painting facility. In the new erected company Scania
Production Meppel (at Meppel in The Netherlands) plastic parts will
be painted for the chassis production units of Scania in Europe
From the start Ergo-Design participated in the project to design
the concept for the new painting installation. According to Scania
standards the process should be lean, resulting in a minimum of
operational costs with optimal flexibility.
Result of the concept phase is a fully robotized paintshop consisting
out of 3 parallel lines with a total capacity to paint parts for
280 trucks a day.
Special for this paintshop is the completely order driven flow with
a possible batch size of 1. To reduce paint waste several calculations
were made during the concept phase on existing paint distribution
systems. Together with the supplier new paint distribution systems
are developed to reduce the paint waste to a minimum.
