Scania has upgraded their assembly
capacity from 95 to 150 trucks per day.
In this masterplan an enormous challenge was fulfilled through creating
two new assembly lines while normal production continued. Ergo-Design
employees have contributed to this process from 2000 until 2003. All together
about a third of the production area was filled in under Ergo-Design supervision.
Systematic Layout Planning was performed resulting in a Block-layout for
the whole production area. Subsequently the following blocks were filled
in by Ergo-Design: - Axle completion line - Wheel supply line - Frame
assembly line - Several major sub assembly stations
Here the result of the Axle completion line, delivering
axles to the two assembly lines, is presented. Based on the functional
requirements Ergo-Design has designed the layout of the Axle Completion
Line, listed the functional specifications, selected suppliers (with Scania
Purchasing department), performed project management over the implementation
until final take over by the Scania production organization. The Swedish
Axles are completed with suspension and brake systems according to client
order and production sequence. Solid preparation with 3D modelling resulted
efficient and ergonomic stations and a changeover time of only three weeks.
