New production concept for Shavers at
Philips Drachten
Ergo-Design
has contributed to the development of a new production concept for the
Orca shaver that was successfully launched in the last quarter of 2000. Teamleader
Pieter Oosting of Philips: " Our new Orca assembly is U-shaped. All sub-assembly
lines are directly connected and therefore in between buffers are no longer
necessary. If anyting goes wrong it will be directly visible and can be
discussed easily. Even the packaging is directly connected to the assembly
line so products are completely finished when they leave the line".
Production
engineer Bas van der Hoek: "By using the Delmia Process Engineer software we can design
the complete hall, with operators, machines and buffers in 3D. We were
supported by specialists of Ergo-Design. It is nice that you can look
at the department from every viewpoint and angle. On the level of a workstation
we can see where the operator is located and what his or her view is,
what can be reached by hand and where components should be located. So
we create an optimal and ergonomical workspace, that we can implement
very rapidly" (source: Close newsletter of Philips DAP) .
