Nido: Visual factory supported by Takt Clock
Nido Universal Machines assembles her Dispensing machines (for de-icing
roads) according to the 'Lean Production' principles in an assembly
line. Part of this philosophy is the visual factory, performance
should be visible for everyone on the shopfloor. Recently a customised
Takt Clock was installed to direct the assembly process like an
orchestra. Based on the diminishing Takt time on several displays
every worker can see how much time is left to end his workcycle
before transporting the product to the next position. Besides 'the
planned number of products' as well as 'the produced number' is
shown. This makes directly clear if production runs according to
plan. Big advantage in practice is direct feed-back on production
progress for everyone on the shopfloor. 'Rest and regularity' are
results of the clockwork approach, according to Dick Paalman, Production
Leader at Nido. The Takt Clock can be fully configured according
to client wishes.
