DAF Paintshop Buffer: improved process control
 In
order to synchronise the paintshop planning and the customer orders
a logistic simulation study was performed by Ergo-Design. An UGS-Tecnomatix
Plant Simulation software model of the DAF Cabin Factory (at Westerlo
in Belgium) process was used for optimization. A number of what-if
scenario's for the paint shop buffer were calculated. The influence
of other hardware and different priority rules were determined.
Result: a 15% less sequence disturbance and 8% less color changes.
A reduction of costs and environmental load!
