Alecto well prepared for the future
Alecto, a producer of Valve-Actuators has a good reputation concerning
product-quality and delivery performance. To ensure this strength
remains in the growing market the production hall needed expansion.
Plans were made to extend the current hall with approx. 600m2. The
historically grown manufacturing process needed reconfiguration
in order to make an optimal flow possible.
Ergo-Design has provided Systematic Factory Planning in order to
create an optimal lay-out and flow control for the future. Warehouse,
component production, assembly and paintshop were resized and relocated
based on product-process analysis, logistics, ergonomic criteria
and growth plans. This was done down to the detailed level of workstations
so the relocation plan was an easy next step. Based on the new layout
a transport distances could be reduced substantially, but even more
important was the creation of the right conditions for improved
process control. Work in process was clearly visible and controlled
by new principles. The results, measured after a year of operation
were a clear flow process, less internal buffering and a throughput
increase of 25% with the same resources.
