 Aldipress,
part of VNU publishers, provides the distribution of a large number of
magazines in the Netherlands. The composition of client specific magazine
packages takes place at output conveyor systems. The decision is made
to concentrate this proces on one new location. Besides the conveyors
will be renewed and the process will be partly automated. Ergo-Design
supports Aldipress with logistic simulations in order to establish the
specifications and enhance the occupancy. The simulation model will be
part of a scheduling software for daily balancing the output conveyor
workload.
The simulation model
and the scheduling program are built in UGS-Tecnomatix Plant Simulation software. It will form
the link between SAP and the controlling software of the conveyor systems.
The new scheduling program will enable Aldipress to generate a daily conveyor
distribution in 15 minutes instead of 90 minutes. Besides the software
optimizes to an equalised distribution of the workload over the different
stations. This results in a shorter lead time and a 50% increase in occupancy.
This is good for Aldipress but also for the employees.
