Volvo Cars - Robot cell
Robot cells are areas with high complexity and accuracy. In
order to check the correct construction of new robot cells
3D Laser scanning was used. The laserscans were matched with
the original 3D RobCad drawings to find out whether the cell
was built accordingly.
A systematic measurement check delivered some substantial
differences which had to be corrected. Off Line Programming
performed in RobCad needs to be based on the right Robot cell
layout and dimensions. In this way 3D Laser scanning avoids
expensive collisions and loss of production time.
